BEGINNERS MACHINE SEWING MAKE A CUSHION 
 

TIME: 10am to 12pm
PATTERN: Design own pattern 
SIZE:  Any size you like
SEWING LEVEL: beginner

New to machine sewing or a bit rusty.  ​​

​​​​​In this workshop  you will cover the following techniques:

 

  • Thread up your machine
  • Wind on a bobbin
  • Understand stitch tension, length and width on both the digital sewing machine and overlocker
  • Sew straight lines and corners using a seam allowance
  • Make a pattern template
  • Finishing seams using the overlocker

What's included

Pattern paper to make own cushion pattern
Use of digital sewing machines, scissors and all equipment
Threads 
Tea / Coffee & biscuits
 

You will need to bring
1 metre of fabric or an couple of metres to made one or two cushions 

 

RECOMMENDED FABRIC: 

Cotton, Poly cotton, any scapes or fat quarters 


Thread, ribbons and trims 
Janome Digital Sewing machines M100 QDC and overlock 6234XL, coverstitch machines Coverpro 2000CPX 
Tea / Coffee & Biscuit 

The workshop will start at  7pm . Please arrive ten minutes early to register and a cuppa. Please note our new sewing studio is now ready to use.  The address is as follows:

Travel

There is limited on-street parking in Stapleford  so we recommend one of the Broxtowe council carparks the nearest being Halls Road (2 minute walk)   https://www.broxtowe.gov.uk/for-you/roads-parking-travel/car-parks/stapleford-car-parks/ 

If you are arriving from Nottingham or Derby via the Trent Barton I4 the stop is Halls Road.
