Course Description:

Unlock your creativity and master the timeless craft of denim jacket making in our comprehensive course. This course is designed for fashion enthusiasts, sewing hobbyists, and aspiring designers who are eager to learn the intricate details of crafting a custom denim jacket. 

What You Will Learn:

• Cutting Techniques: Master the art of cutting denim fabric accurately, minimizing waste while optimizing fabric usage.
• Sewing Skills: Develop essential sewing skills specific to working with heavy fabrics like denim, including stitching, hemming, and finishing techniques.
• Design Customisation: Explore different design elements such as collars, pockets, buttons, and decorative stitching to personalise your jacket.
• Final Assembly: Learn how to assemble your jacket, ensuring all elements come together seamlessly for a professional finish.

Course Structure:

•  Introduction to Denim Fabric

  • Understanding different types of denim.
  • Fabric care and maintenance.

•  Pattern Design and Customisation

  • Creating and adjusting jacket patterns.
  • Understanding sizing and fit.

• Cutting and Sewing Techniques

  • Precision cutting and fabric handling.
  • Essential sewing techniques for denim.

•  Design Elements and Personalisation

  • Adding pockets, collars, and buttons.
  • Decorative stitching and embroidery.

Workshop Includes: 

• Matching Gutterman threads
• Denim Jacket Pattern and Instructions 
• Cotton Interfacing.
• Buttons can bring your own
• Use of Janome Digital Sewing machines M100 QDC and Janome 6234XL overlockers 

I will email approximately one week before the course to confirm your choice of jacket pattern from the following denim/jean jacket options:

• Sizes: 4 to 30 
• Traditional jeans jacket
• Oversized boyfriend fit
• Front and back design lines
• Front functional chest pockets with flaps
• Side welted pockets
• Classic cuff with split and button
• Adjusting waistband tabs with buttons
• One piece collar
• Front closure using studs or buttons
• Front and back yokes
• Jacket length sits at mid hip

Seamworks The Audrey Jacket: 

The denim jacket is an indispensable wardrobe basic. The Audrey jacket is a classic design that offers all the bells and whistles of a traditional denim jacket. Size 0 to 26 

Fabric to Bring:

• Materials: 3 metres for all sizes of   8 - 12.5oz non stretch denim, medium weight cotton drill or canvas, dry oilskin, linen and corduroy.

There is limited on-street parking in Stapleford  so we recommend one of the Broxtowe council carparks the nearest being Halls Road (2 minute walk)   https://www.broxtowe.gov.uk/for-you/roads-parking-travel/car-parks/stapleford-car-parks/  Free all day parking Saturday and Sundays

If you are arriving from Nottingham or Derby via the Trent Barton I4 the stop is Halls Road.
