Sewing Technical Techniques Workshop – Hems & Finishes

Explore the professional techniques behind hems and finishes used in industry, dressmaking, and bag making.
The main function of hems and finishes is to prevent fabric edges from fraying, improve durability, and create a clean, professional finish. In this technical workshop, you will gain an understanding of different hemming and finishing methods used in garment and bag construction.
You will learn how to select and apply suitable techniques for different fabrics and projects, building your confidence with a variety of finishes. You will create your own technical file containing fabric samples, learning aids, and notes to refer back to at home.
This workshop will include the following techniques:
- Double Fold Hem
- Bound Edge
- Bound Hem
- Faced Hem
- Exposed Band
- Exposed Tape
- Exposed Piping

- Fabric pieces pre-cut and ready to sew
The Sewing Studio is fully equipped with Janome sewing machines and overlockers, along with all the tools and equipment needed to complete your technical samples.
