Properties and users of some of the hems and finishes used in industry, dressmaking and bag making

The main function of hems and finishes is to prevent the fabric edge from fraying and revealing while giving more resistance.

Gain an understanding of the alternative Hems and finishes in garment and bag construction, learn the techniques for seams on different types of fabrics and garments. Create a technical file with learning aids, samples and notes to take home 

This workshop will include the following techniques:

• Double fold hem
• Binded edge
• Bound hem
• Faced hem
• Exposed band
• Exposed Tape
• Exposed piping
• Turned edge
