Merchant & Mills Coat 2 day Sewing Course

Join us for a two-day workshop to create your own Merchant & Mills coat. With sizes ranging from 6 to 28, this course is perfect for all skill levels. Whether you're crafting a stylish everyday coat or a cozy outer layer, we’ll guide you every step of the way.
A perfect blend of overcoat and duster, the oversized September Coat is designed for striding confidently through town or country. Choose to sew it lined for extra warmth or unlined for a lighter feel. Versatile for any season, it transforms effortlessly: in oilskin or wool, it becomes a cozy winter essential, while in linen, it’s a breezy, casual layer
Workshop Includes:
- Matching Gutterman threads
- Merchant & Mills 'September' sewing pattern and instructions
- Use of Janome Digital Sewing machines M100 QDC and Janome 6234XL overlockers
Fabric Suggestions:

Outer Fabric: Choose from dry oilskin, oilskin, mid to heavyweight linens, 7–12oz denim, wool, corduroy, cotton twills, or canvas. A heavier fabric will create a more structured coat.

Lining Options: For oilskin coats, we recommend Barrier Lining. Other excellent choices include cotton voile, lightweight linen, cotton poplin, hemp/cotton blends, lightweight wools, or traditional slip linings.
Tailor your fabric choices to achieve the perfect balance of style, comfort, and durability.

There is limited on-street parking in Stapleford so we recommend one of the Broxtowe council carparks the nearest being Halls Road (2 minute walk) https://www.broxtowe.gov.uk/for-you/roads-parking-travel/car-parks/stapleford-car-parks/ Free all day parking Saturday and Sundays
If you are arriving from Nottingham or Derby via the Trent Barton I4 the stop is Halls Road.
