Bring Your Own Sewing Project

Want to sew in a group with other like- minded individuals, and make some sewing friends? Short on space to sew at home or lacking the motivation to get going? Enjoy coming together with others to learn something new? This open workshop is for anyone wishing to use the space, equipment and machines and work on their own project with tutor to help.  You can bring any kind of sewing project that you would like to work on.

The sewing studio has been changed to create 7 sewing stations, included sewing machine, overlocker (use of coverstitch machine please message me if you will need to use this machine and the colour thread you would like), cutting table with cutting board, iron and small ironing board.  

Here are some of the things you may want to do:

  • Bring your own pattern and fabric and cut and make a garment.
  • Get help with a sewing technique you are struggling with.
  • Carry out clothing alterations and repairs.
  • Customise an item.

Threads, pins and needles to take home after the workshop
Janome Digital Sewing machines M100 QDC and overlock 6234XL, coverstitch machines Coverpro 2000CPX 
Bottle of water

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

You will need to bring all the materials you need to carry out your project.

Class numbers will not be  more than 7 per session

Travel

There is limited on-street parking in Stapleford  so we recommend one of the Broxtowe council carparks the nearest being Halls Road (2 minute walk)   https://www.broxtowe.gov.uk/for-you/roads-parking-travel/car-parks/stapleford-car-parks/ 

If you are arriving from Nottingham or Derby via the Trent Barton I4 the stop is Halls Road.

  If you would like a hot drink prior to the start of the course or during the break there is Gusto Cafe very near to the Sew at 174 building and many independent coffee shops in the town.
